If you're a frequent reader/watcher of movies blog/videos, you probably know that I'm a HUGE horror buff with a great deal of respect for Wes Craven. While I won't say that all of his films were good, the man is responsible for genre classics like the highly influential The Last House on the Left, the immensely creative The Hills Have Eyes, and he also made a little film in 1984 called A Nightmare On Elm Street that... well, if that's not a full-on masterpiece, it's DAMN CLOSE!!! Seriously, A Nightmare On Elm Street is one of my favorite movies, but more than that, it's brilliantly directed, scary as hell, and introduced the world to one of cinema's most iconic villains... Freddy Krueger. Seriously, just being responsible for introducing the world to Freddy Krueger is enough to make the man a legend.
Like I said, I don't think all of his films were great (Scream is overrated!), but there's no doubt that this man is responsible for some true classics. Also no question that the horror genre owes A LOT to Craven's immense talent.
RIP Wes Crave aka Master of Horror. You will be missed.
